MK GROOVE TRIO ANNOUNCES FALL UPSTATE MINI TOUR
Brooklyn based Syracuse native Michael Kammers is bringing the rhythm section of his large ensemble, The MK Groove Orchestra, to Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and a yet to be named town for their fall upstate mini tour, including a stop at Villa Maria College to give a lecture on world music. A complimentary mix tape download is included with admission at all shows.
“Fall 2010 is shaping up quite nicely for us.” says Kammers, “a successful performance at the prestigious Blue Note jazz club in New York featuring Sam Yahel on organ, an article on us in the national music trade magazine “Performer,” as well as a total re-launch of our website and a mix tape release. I look forward to sleeping sometime this winter.”
The MK Groove Trio is the smallest component of the 14 piece MK Groove Orchestra. In this setting, MK and his associates (Chris Kuklis on Guitar and Mike Thies on Drums) collectively explore the musical influences that are the DNA of the large ensemble, while stretching and exploring their original material in ways that are conducive to the intimacy of the trio format. An electrified/processed sax fills out the groups sound in a muscular manner that is as satisfying as it is danceable.
