Michael Kammers Announces Release of The Claustrophobic Noise EP And Supporting Fall MK3 Tour
Brooklyn based bandleader, composer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Kammers will bring the trio version (MK3) of his large ensemble the MK Groove Orchestra across the state this September on a ten day fall tour culminating at the Blue Note in NYC supporting the release of his upcoming album, The Claustrophobic Noise EP.
Named after the rehearsal space of Kammers’ first garage band and recorded primarily one track at a time in his bedroom over the course of a year, The Claustrophobic Noise EP is a meticulously crafted artistic statement drawing on all of Kammers’ experience as a musician, composer and human.
Inspired by some of the lesser known areas of New York’s music scene and history that Kammers’ hopes to bring out in the supporting MK3 tour, Claustrophobic Noise is in many ways a reflection of Kammers’ coming to terms with the fact that he may never leave the grind of the big apple, while paying homage to his musical roots.
“One of the most exciting and dynamic acts on the underground jazz circuit in NYC.” -The Manhattan Examiner
“Exhibits raw realism with frayed edges.” – Frank DeBlase, City (Rochester)
“Can become full blown chaotic polyphony one moment, and straight funk the next.” -The Spectrum (Buffalo)

Here is some live footage of MK3 with a slightly different line up then this tour to give you a taste of what’s to come. It’s the tour promo bumper from our last fall tour so never mind the itinerary, but enjoy the jams!
Thanks for stopping by. We hope to see you on the road soon!
MK
